SCAG Reopens $49 Million Rebate Program for Electric Trucks

So whatFleets & owner-operators in LA, Orange, Riverside or San Bernardino counties: apply before the Jan. 11, 2027 window closes for BEV rebates up to $108,000 per truck.

SCAG, working with the South Coast Air Quality Management District, reopened the INVEST CLEAN Measure 2.2 Last Mile Freight Rebate Program in July 2026, the agency said in its program announcement. The reopening makes $49,129,000 available for fleets buying battery-electric trucks in Classes 4 through 8 and scrapping or converting older diesel (model year 2010 or newer) or gasoline Classes 4-6 vehicles.

Rebates range from $67,000 for Class 4-5 trucks to $108,000 for Class 8. Applicants must operate in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside or San Bernardino counties and show at least 75 percent of vehicle use within the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim or Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro areas. At least 51 percent of requested BEVs must correspond to a scrapped or converted combustion vehicle, with replacement vehicles no larger than the class scrapped.

SCAG said it will rank applications in three tiers based on replacement ratio, vehicle age, mileage and project readiness, with higher tiers getting funding priority if the program is oversubscribed. Funding comes through a sub-award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
