FMCSA Seeks Comment on Renewing Training Registry Reporting Rule
FMCSA published a notice seeking public comment on renewing an information collection tied to its Training Provider Registry (TPR), the system entry-level commercial driver training providers use to report data under the agency's entry-level driver training rules.
The collection covers two actions: training providers must submit information to show they meet TPR eligibility requirements, and after a driver-trainee finishes training, the provider must submit certification data on that trainee to the TPR. Both requirements have been in effect since February 7, 2022, after several delays, FMCSA said in the notice.
FMCSA is asking the Office of Management and Budget to approve the renewal through 2030. The agency estimates 26,284 respondents, with each response taking about 0.55 hours and a total annual burden of 198,730 hours. All training providers register once, then update their information at least every two years or sooner if key details change.
FMCSA invited comment on whether the collection is necessary, whether its burden estimates are accurate, and how to improve the quality or reduce the burden of the information collected.
