Trumbull Man Gets 24 Months for $3.5M Amazon Freight Fraud
A federal judge in Bridgeport sentenced Ameer Nasir, 25, of Trumbull, to 24 months in prison and three years of supervised release for defrauding Amazon.com of more than $3.5 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut said.
According to court documents, Amazon Logistics contracts with interstate trucking businesses to move trailers, including empty ones and heavy freight loads, between cities and Amazon warehouses and fulfillment centers. Nasir registered 23 trucking businesses with Amazon Logistics. One used his own company, Pak Express Transport LLC. Others were created under false names or by fraudulently using the names and identifying information of real trucking and transportation companies without those operators' knowledge.
Between December 2019 and February 2021, Nasir used the accounts to sign up for more than 1,000 transportation assignments, manipulated Amazon Logistics' transportation management system to show trailer movements he never completed, and submitted invoices that Amazon paid.
Nasir pleaded guilty to wire fraud on March 6, 2026. The judge ordered restitution of $3,547,090.93. He was arrested May 8, 2025, and is free on a $300,000 bond until he reports to prison.
