FHWA Opens Comments on Digital Corridors Grant Paperwork

So whatFleets & Shippers: no direct compliance duty here, but the program funds real-time work zone and lane-closure data feeds that could affect routing tools. Comment by Dec. 15 if the paperwork burden concerns you.

FHWA published a notice seeking Office of Management and Budget approval for a new information collection tied to the Great American Digital Corridors (GADC) Program. The program, authorized under Section 11101(c)(1)(D) of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, funds deployment of digital infrastructure along the Federal-aid highway system, including the Interstate System, to support real-time data on work zones, lane closures and other operational conditions.

FHWA said it has made up to $20 million available for fiscal year 2026 cooperative agreements, fully federally funded with no local match required. Eligible applicants include states, local and tribal governments, transit agencies, toll authorities, metropolitan planning organizations, private entities, nonprofits and academic institutions, generally applying as part of a consortium. FHWA expects about 20 applicants, each facing an estimated 10 hours of paperwork burden, for a total of 200 annual burden hours.

The notice itself does not impose new duties on motor carriers or drivers. It is a procedural step under the Paperwork Reduction Act before FHWA can collect grant application data from eligible entities.
