DOT Awards $200 Million for 14 Truck Parking Projects

So whatDrivers & Carriers: new parking capacity is years away; track project timelines in your states before counting on added spaces for HOS compliance.

Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced $200 million in grants through the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects (INFRA) program's Track 2 funding to build or expand truck parking at 14 locations in 12 states, DOT said in the announcement. FMCSA posted a matching release the same day.

A companion release from Rep. Steve Womack (AR-3), who chairs the House THUD appropriations subcommittee, detailed one award: $23,024,000 to the Arkansas Department of Transportation for a new rest area and truck parking facility along the future I-49 corridor in Crawford County, between the Gun Club Road and Clear Creek Road interchanges. The site will add space for about 137 trucks and 49 passenger vehicles, plus access ramps, stormwater ponds and lighting, according to the release.

Womack said he directed the $200 million total across the FY2026 and FY2027 THUD bills to address the national truck parking shortage. DOT's release did not list the other 13 projects or their funding amounts; that detail appeared only in local and trade coverage not relied on here.
