Iowa Panel Approves CDL and Fuel-License Rule Updates
The Iowa Transportation Commission approved a batch of administrative rule orders at its Oct. 13 meeting, the Iowa Department of Transportation said in a news release. Among them: MV-2027-15, covering Chapter 505 on interstate motor vehicle fuel licenses and permits, which governs IFTA licensing for carriers that operate across state lines. The Commission also approved MV-2027-17, updating Chapter 602 on classes of driver's licenses, and MV-2027-18, updating Chapter 605 on license issuance — both of which set the rules for how Iowa classifies and issues CDLs.
The release lists the order numbers, titles and the Motor Vehicle Division staffer who presented each item, but does not describe what the rule text actually changes. The Commission approved several other Motor Vehicle Division rule packages the same day, including chapters on driver's privacy, OWI and implied consent, nonoperator identification, and financial responsibility.
Iowa DOT did not state an effective date for any of the approved rules in this release.
